Machined mostly from nickel silver and hard rubber with German silver trims. The multiplying gear mechanism uses cut spur gears, providing approximately 2:1 ratio, supported by solid bearings. The drag is friction‑type, using a stack of washers or discs, tightened via a multi‑stop (7‑position) knob. All screws are machined and slotted; side plates are turned for flatness and finish; plating is bright nickel/chrome type. The foot is milled rather than cast for strength and alignment. Serial stamped in the foot or frame, per Zwarg/vom Hofe convention, with clear letter prefix and number. The assembling includes polishing, fitting, and final lubrication before leaving the workshop.
