Description

Trouting Along the Catasauqua is a short angling sketch by Frank Forester, the pen name of Henry William Herbert. Herbert was a London-born, Cambridge-educated writer who came to New York in 1831 and became one of the most popular American sporting writers of his day. He also wrote Frank Forester's Fish and Fishing of the United States (1849). The piece was published in 1927 by Eugene V. Connett for the Anglers' Club of New York, an early product of Connett's Derrydale Press, with a foreword by Harry Worcester Smith and a frontispiece portrait of Forester by Gordon Ross. One exhibit catalogue describes the story as a classic in the Thoreau tradition, full of the author's love of nature and trout. A fine addition to any Derrydale shelf.
