Here he writes as an angler first: Kirkus Reviews described the book as a guide to catching bigger and better trout, looking at the fishing from the trout's point of view as well as the angler's, with chapters on dry flies, wet flies and nymphs and how to dress them. Stories are woven in, with anecdotes of well-known anglers such as La Branche and Hewitt.
